I am kicking around the idea of purchasing a pre-luber. I would like to get everyone's opinion on if they are worth the money. I am partial to the ones that have a pump motor vs. the ones that hold pressure in a tank. Thanks

"as much as I appreciate the concept... boat engines don't tend to fail from dry bearing starts.

The lead tin overlay on modern bearings is pretty durable and effective.

Prelube is just more parts to break, fail, leak...

We installed a lot of prelube systems on big Cat diesels back in the early 90's... it was a fad that came and went.

I'd tend to favour the accumulator type. The electric pumps probably aren't using SAEJ1171 marine rated electric motors for install in the bilge/engine room."
