"Removed the carbs and was able to access the rod in question. The powerhead is fairly new, less than 200 hours and the #2 cylinder (I believe) rod bearing is toast. Is this a common issue, and what could have caused it. Thanks in advance for any advice. Hoping to get insurance to cover it, if I can prove it is not a wear issue."

A rod bearing will be a tough

A rod bearing will be a tough one to get insurance coverage from. A heat related seizure is easier. Is this a recent rebuild where the small end and big end bearings were reused?

"Thanks for the reply. This is

"Thanks for the reply. This is a Yamaha Corp. remanufactured powerhead. Looks to be a lack of lubrication due to contamination in the oil injecttion line. At least that is what the insurance investigator and I came up with. The rest of the motor is OK, so it's a call the insurance company has to make now."
