"I have a Mercruiser I/O 2001

"I have a Mercruiser I/O 2001 5.0L M C/AI 220. The Mercruiser Manual seems to be less than helpful, it lists the items to drain but then says if equiped. In inspecting my engine I found 5 blue drain plugs, hoping that is all. I have read the treads posted but most petain to boats out of the water. My winterization is in water. My thought is that can I use an electric sump pump to pump anti freeze thru the cooling system by hooking a hose between the sump pump and the intake manifold??? And also back flush with anit freeze the raw water intake?? Remove the themostat first or just bring the engine up to temp??? Thanks for any advice."

Bondo is right. I would bring

Bondo is right. I would bring it up to operating temp. first and fog the engine. Put on a heavy rubber glove and remove the plugs. Also pull off the water circulating pump hose and drain it. The heat will help the left over moisture evaporate. Change the oil and filter while it is warm.
