"OK, so I totally rebuild my mid-80's 470 merc, blue-printed top to bottom. Finally get it all back together, she fires up and sounds fantastic. I notice however that the coolant in the reservoir is now water and that while idling for an hour, have pumped all the coolant out the exhaust. I check the connections on the new 4" heat exchanger and all is hooked up properly, and heat exchanger is not bad. I can't figure out how the fresh water got into the closed coolant loop!
Any suggestions? Exhaust manifold issues?"
