"I am halfway through replacing the complete control cable on my mercruiser/alpha one. I removed the old cable in its intirety as it was stiff and hard to work due to outer cable melting off exhausts, anyways i cannot seem to route the new cable back in. any advice would be great."

"well.. if your still having trouble, first you need to completely remove the inner cable, then when you put it through the shift cable bellows, you'll need some lube.. can use liquid soap too.. or some oil, either. then when you get it into the transom, you'll need to either have a buddy inside or go in the boat and work it away from the belhousing as that's where it is hitting, should be easy from there.. then after you tighen it back up into the gimbal housing you can put the inner cable back in."
