Hi all I have read that you have to run the motor at full throttle for the first 100hrs after the first service
Is this procedure to be done on a Honda bf 20hp too ? or no ?

"I have seen this written a lot on this forum also. I have not heard anything official from Honda, other than if is not good to just idle your motor for long periods of time without also running it at higher rpms. If does take a very long time to completely seat the rings and thoroughly break in the engine.

Running at full throttle is generally not very fuel efficient. After the first 10 hour breakin, you should have no problems doing it if it is propped and rigged correctly and has been properly serviced.

Basically, do not baby the engine."

"I'm sure they don't mean full throttle all the time.

Ring Seating does require at least brief acceleration at full throttle and hold it for longer time periods later in break-in.

Prolonged idle or low power continous cruising will glaze cylinder walls before rings have seated. If this happens, only solution is new rings and re-hone of cylinder walls."
