"i have a 2005 4.3 volvo carb.

"i have a 2005 4.3 volvo carb. it was not charging. no amps out of alternator and battery voltage at 3000 rpms was still only 12v. i replaced the alternator and im getting the same results, no amps out and still only 12v. the orange lead out of the back of the alternator is not loose on the alternator and is not loose on the starter either. all connections are good and im open for any ideas. thanks!"

"thanks for the help el. i ohm

"thanks for the help el. i ohm tested the alternator ground that goes on the case, to ground and had a very high resistance reading. the portside ground post on the back of the engine where the ground for the alternator is had loose nuts on it not giving the alternator a sufficient ground. tightened it up with new lockwashers and put the old alternator back on and everything was back to normal."
