Loss of engine oil while motoring under sail

"I own a 1965 Person Countess

"I own a 1965 Person Countess 44 ketch. Last weekend, while motoring and sailing in a 25 knot wind, my Ford Lehman lost 6 quarts of oil into the bilge. I cannot locate the source of the loss, and there was no drop in oil pressure loss of power, or rise in operating temperature. I cleaned the oil out of the bilge, added new oil, and motored home in no wind, with little to no further loss of oil. I have searched the engine thoroughly and cannot find any location from which the oil could have made its way out of the sump and into the bilge. The boat was heeling to port. The dipstick is on the port side of the engine, but I am hard pressed to believe that 6 quarts of oil could have escaped through the dipstick opening ( with the dipstick in place). I welcome any and all ideas, as I am about to lift the engine off the mounts to try and discover the answer to this mystery. Many thanks for any help offered."
