"I have a 1986 Mercruiser MCM

"I have a 1986 Mercruiser MCM 140 and I need to know where the timing marks should be on the cam gear and the crank gear. I have replaced gears, belts and chains in many cars and trucks but never in a boat."

"Same.. should see 1 DOT on the FACE of both the cam and crank gears. Place the #1 cyl at TDC, when you put the cover on you'll be at 0 TDC for putting in the Dist.

NOTE: having an ALUM Cam gear will generate a little whine at from the engine, versus if you used a OEM Fiber Gear.

The Alum can gear is more Heavy duty vs the Fiber Style.

NOTE: Be sure to replace in Sets as there are differences. (personal exp)"
