Black color in coolant reservoir

I have a black color coming in

I have a black color coming into my "closed Cooling" over flow. What could this be. Engine and everything sounds fine Idols smooth? Let me know Thanks

It is a 2001 496 HO not sure but I think it does have a oil cooler. But wouldn't it look milky if it was oil?? Let me know Thanks Guy

If it is cooled by raw water then you wouldn't see it. Can you check that? Oil will float on the antifreeze. Is the black that you see attached to the sides of the overflow tank like a dirty bathtub ring? Scrape some off to see if it is a scum/gel. That would mean the antifreeze is breaking down.

I'd suggest removing the coolant ASAP. Flush with fresh water and then refill it using the lowest concentration of antifreeze needed for your location. Use a good brand of antifreeze and, ideally, distilled water. If you use tap water, make sure it is not 'hard' water."
