New Honda 30hp wonbt shift into gear

"I just installed a new Honda

"I just installed a new Honda 30hp four stroke on my boat. It starts up but the remote control does not work for anything else. I can not shift it into gear, adjust the tilt, or the choke. I traced back all of the wires and they seem to be connected and in the proper place. I also checked both fuses and they are fine. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you"

"It sounds like a lot of thing

"It sounds like a lot of things are not connected correctly. First, do you have a Honda shifter? Is it a box with the key in it? Could you have the throttle and shift reversed? You should not shift the motor unless it is running or someone is turning the prop by hand. You can break the shift linkages.

If this is a current motor, 2009, it does not have a choke, so that problem is solved.

Does it have power tilt or is it manual tilt?

I would call the dealer that sold it to you and address your questions. If it is a new motor, the dealer should have installed it. Honda wants the dealer to do it to avoid upsetting situations such as this."
