It's elbow and riser time

It's elbow and riser time again on my 1986 305's. I have noted several articles that mention moving the risers behind the block off plate and making them part of the closed cooling system. This seems pretty logical so there must be a reason why Crusader didn't do it in the first place. Am I going to create some major cooling issues if I make the risers fresh water cooled.

"I doubt that cooling won't be a problem since most of the heat has already been removed by then. The raw water is finally injected into the exhaust stream in the risers (usually), so you have to separate THAT from the water jacketing. Tricky, but it can be done.
