Right prop size

"I have 4cyl. 165 hp mercruiser i/o I was wondering if there is a better prop size to use when i put like 7 people on my boat.It'S 17FT BOWRIDER ,I have a 14 3/4 x 19 on it and it's very hard to get up to plan at full throttle.These are not all adults 4 adults 3 kids 9 to 13."

a 17P for fully loaded conditions will make a huge difference.
You'll just have to be careful when lightly loaded not to exceed 4600 rpms.

"I'd check the boat's capacity plate....wouldn't think a 17ft'er is rated for 7. depending upon what the 19 turns with that load (RPM), you may have to go to 15"."
 
A 4 blade 18P will get on plan

A 4 blade 18P will get on plane faster w/a lot of people and you won't loose much on the top end.
