What is the difference

I am trying to identify an engine and educate myself on the marinised ford engines.

Can someone explain the difference between the Sabre and Lehman engines? Are these the UK and USA companies involved in marinising the ford blocks or simply different "families" of engine.

I have also heard mention of Mermaid, Dover and Dorset engines…

I would be grateful if someone could clarify what is what regarding these ranges of engines.

I think I am looking at a 6D363TC. but I am not sure until I find a plate or number.

It certainly is 6 cylinder, does not have glow plugs and is turbo charged.

can someone please help i have a 1150 merc inline 6 ser#4736578 i think it's a 1977 the problem is i need carb kit.the one they show does not look like mine. the one that looks like mine is in the s/n bracket6436123 and up. the numbers on my carb are WMK18-3 and 1398-5677mercarb please help thanks.

To my knowledge Ford have never made a marine engine as such. Mermaid, Lehman ect marinise ford based engines for the market. Lehman for the US-Mermaid ect for the UK. Cheers Shakey."
