"On FWC 454 at a cruise of say 2800-3200rpm, what is the proper running temperature and how hot is too hot and should start to be concerned?

On recent run of about 2 hrs in 84 degree water noticed one motor running at steady 168-170 while other was up about 175-178.

So at what temp should start to be concerned?"

"Hard to say....if you are usi

"Hard to say....if you are using the dash gauge. They are only good to +/-15 deg F as far as accuracy goes.

Your range is 'normal' with that temp bath water coming in; as long as it stays steady once up at cruise, I wouldn't worry about it.

The overheat switch closes at 200 deg...that's too hot for sustained operation. If it got to 190, I'd start looking for a restriction, worn impeller, etc."
