I have a 200 mile trip in a few weeks and wanted to do a tune up.
Can anyone recommend manf/size/ quantity to change out the following?
Plugs
Oil- 30 w
belt-for spare
impeller-size/spare

And anything else that is worth having for a long trip.

Thanks for the help.

"Use a timing light to:

1. Make sure it's timed correctly, and

2. See if the spark is advancing. Watch the mark move as you rev the motor (in neutral) to 3,000 rpms. It should move at least an inch, then come RIGHT back. If not, the advance mechanism in the distributor is sticking--a common problem.

could be 5 or 7 qts depending on whether you have an aluminum pan or not.

You have to find out what model water pump you have to find the right impeller. There should be a tag on it somewhere. My 318 has a G7 pump single pocket.

Thanks for the info. I have read several people talk about 15w diesel vs 30w oil. Can you explain this?
Once I find the type of pump I have, are there "kits" that include impeller and any needed gaskets?"

Straight 30W is traditional but today's oil's don't have the additives that older motors need however diesel oils still do to some extent. What weight you use is up to you.

Yes...once you find out your pump model you can get a kit for $20
