If I leave my engine for a cou

If I leave my engine for a couple of weeks I usually have to put a bit of petrol down the carb to get it to start. Once started it is fine and then starts immediately every time. I have checked the Electric choke and also it will squirt fuel at the Carb if I operate the Throttle.
Any ideas please? Is this normal?

"I have the same eng in my Sea

"I have the same eng in my Searay. GM Block? Rodchester 4bb carb? You have to adjust he float level if you havent had your carb serviced in awhile. I brought a carb kit, adjusted the float level and had no problems since. I pump the throttle twice and she fires right up,even after 2-3wks.Double check your filter on the inlet of the carb too."

Thanks that gives me some good

Thanks that gives me some good pointers
Is the carb kit very expensive? Where is the best place to get the kit from?

"No, not expensive, about $20

"No, not expensive, about $20 or less. I got mine from NAPA auto parts. Find the tag on your carb with the Model number, that number is what will determine what kit is used for your carb. If your not sure how to use this kit, have someone who knows. Its a typical rebuild kit that most auto repair shops can do,uaually cheaper than a marine shop."
