Oil sheen at waterline around sterndrive

I have a 93 5.0 cobra sterndri

I have a 93 5.0 cobra sterndrive. Yesterday I noticed a slight oil sheen which developed at the waterline around the sterndrive. Got home put the muffs on and ran it to operating temperature. No visual leaks but noticed an oil sheen in the exhaust water. Any thoughts or suggestions on this.

Check your tilt drive. I had the same problem and discovered a hole due to corrosion and the gear oil was seeping out. It doesn't take much of a leak to cause a sizeable sheen."

"Cobra doesn't have that sort of tilt, but an engine running rich can put a sheen on the water.

Valve guides, rings..anything where the engine is burning oil also possible."

"George, i have a 92 seaswirl with a 5.8 had the same problem. could it be a gas sheen at water level? I had a sheen and also a ring at the transom due to the engine running rich. Does your setup have a holley carb or different type. Try making an adjustment to carb while boat is on trailer in gear or tied to dock."

It has a Holley 2 barrel. There was oil on the hull around the outdrive. It's hard to tell if it is motor or gear oil.
