It does depending a bit on the year and model of the drive and engine size/year changes the placement of the shifter assembly."

"it goes on the reverse of how it came off,only it is a little harder,dont tear the shift cable boot putting it in and use alot of grease to save yourself alot of aggravation,it works alot better with two people,one outside pushing and the other up top inside standing in his head behind the motor busting his knuckles and making sure the cable is routed AWAY from the input shaft!!! its always fun on a REALLY hot day when your hands are sweaty AND greasy!!"
