"Just a general question...would minor overheating* possibly cause an engine to lose power? Maybe cause the fuel to vaporize, keeping the fuel pump from being able to pump it properly?

*by minor overheating, I mean something like 180F."
 
No in my opinion.

Car engines (carbed)run much hotter and do not have that issue.
