"Check engine alarm comes on while in idle but not when im in gear with revs. Had some water in fuel lines and external reycore filter.
Replaced the lines, and external filter and also cleaned out the tanks. Still the alarm comes on after 2 or 3 mins while in idle.
Havnt checked under engine cover yet. Would the internal filter on the engine sound the alarm if it had water in it???
Cheers nath"

"Before replacing HO2 sensor,

"Before replacing HO2 sensor, drain your VST (Vapor Seperator Tank). If you had water in the fuel lines, you'll also likely have it in the VST.

On the back starboard side of your motor, you will see a plastic tube looped around a holder. Unhook it, and look down at the base where it connects. Beside the connection is a set screw. Use a long flat blade screwdriver to open the set screw - slowly. With the end of the hose extended downward into a clear container that will hold at least a quart of liquid, start opening the set screw. Do not open too far - if it comes out, you will need to remove the lower cowling to retrieve it. Anywhere from two to three pints of gas, and maybe some water and gunk will come out of that tube. Be patient, the last stuff to come out is usually slow, but drain out as much as you can. If there is water, or any gunk, then your fuel-water seperator and low pressure fuel filter have failed and need to be replaced. At that point, you should also change out the high pressure filter which sits just above that set screw. It's a small white inline filter. To replace the high pressure filter you need to remove the starboard under cowling. The Honda shop manual takes you through the process. I think it is Chapter 3 - maintenance.

If your engine is older than around 2007, and this is not the first time your HO2 sensor has failed, then you should check Honda Service Bulletin #56. That bulletin describes how water can get into your exhaust pipes and blow the HO2 sensors, among other bad things."

Nathan - one other thing occur

Nathan - one other thing occurred to me. Check the connectors on top of the HO2 sensors. They sometimes get loose and can cause the problem you described at idle.
