I have a 1995 4.3 mercruiser I

I have a 1995 4.3 mercruiser I was wondering what the four 1/8" brass holes in the gasket were for.I do not have the same holes in the manifold?

"It for the electrical connection between the housing and manifold, temp sender may be erratic without them."
