"My 84 MCM 140 has developed a random "stutter/skip" at low rpm. I have replaced all fuel filters, spark plugs, points, and condensor but still have the problem. The engine starts and runs fine except for the skip which seems to really stand out around 1800 rpm. I notice the skip at idle also but not so severe. Should this be looked at by a marine mechnic or is there something more I can do?"

have you replaced the wires? when you say skip im assuming your talking about a miss? i would be more apt to think maybe the accelarater pump in the carb is going bad but you said around 1800rpm how does it run at wot? and is it real responsive on the take off no hesitation ?
