"Is it OK to run a freash wate

"Is it OK to run a freash water I/O boat in salt water for a short period of time, like a couple of weeks on vac? What kind of prep/maintainance would I have to do before/after use in salt water beyond flushing the cooling system?

Flush the engine for 30 mins.

Flush the engine for 30 mins. w/clean water after each use unless you leave it in the water. Spray the engine and OD from top to bottom w/WD-40 before you go home.

When you get back home you'll want to get some salt terminator and run it thru the engine and OD.

Ditto what Bondo said. The day after a saltwater vacation we dump the boat in the lake for a cruise/flush and a wash down with fresh water. Also run the kicker motor even if we never use it in the salt.
