" I am trying to locate information on 4 cly. gas Continental engines used for inboards in 1965-1967.
I keep getting Graymarine, Durant and Continental togeather on my searches. Is there a connection between these companies? Any help or direction would be useful.

" John,
I believe Durant started the Continental Engine Company. Durant built automobiles in the 20's under the name Durant & Star. The six cylinder Star was one of the first full pressure lubricating systems on small engines. A lot of fishermen converted that automobile engine to
marine use in the 20's.
A number of the Graymarine engine models were based on the 140ci and 162ci blocks by Continental, such as Graymarine model Four-52, 4-140, 4-162, etc.
Hopefully someone else can contribute some more info.
Regards,
Andrew "
