I have just brought a Maxim 18

I have just brought a Maxim 1800SR .The problem is that at slow speeds the steering is fine but at higher speeds the steering is stiff ther is no power steering and the steering is abasic rack and pinion at the wheel and and a cable to the leg

I have a 2001 same boat, but mine does have power steering. Guy is right about the grease fitting, but on my boat it never had them.

My steering kept getting worse to the next season, first of this year.

I had to replace the steering cable, and now drives like a brand new boat.

That is just what happend to me.
