1967 Mercruiser power backfeed

Just replaced 2 Diehards and I

Just replaced 2 Diehards and I'm drawing 1.5 amps with switch in off position. This drains one battery. Thinking diode in alternator is malfunctioning? Believe I need to replace alternator. Any experience out there with this?

"First thing to do is disconnect the large wire harnees connector to seperate the dash from the motor. Recheck amperage draw.

Then with the amp meter hooked up if you are still drawing over .07 amps then disconnect one thing at a time until the amperage draw dissapears. If it turns out to be the alt, then get it rebiult or replaced.

Also only test with ONE battery you dont need that much power for testing."
