"I have a 2.3 outdrive that "clunks', i have a new shift cable, not installed yet. i also have a 3.0 outdrive that i bought last year, not knowing that the gearing was different. boat would only do 10mph. my question is this: where is the gear ratio different, in the upper case or lower or both.
can i put the lower from the 3.0 on the 2.3 and be good to go?
How involved is changing the clutch dogs? I have rebuilt motors from crank up, so im not afraid to get dirty.
