"MY BOAT HAS TWIN 1987 270 HP CRUSADERS WITH MALLORY SINGLE POINT DISTRIBUTORS. ONE ENGINE WOULD NOT GO OVER 2000 RPM AFTER ABOUT HALF HOUR RUN TIME. SWITCHED COILS BETWEEN ENGINES AND PROBLEM WENT TO THE OTHER ENGINE.SO, I NEED A NEW COIL. THERE ARE NOT ANY NUMBERS ON THE COIL. WHEN I LOOK UP CRUSADER PARTS I FIND THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT COILS FOR THE SAME APPLICATION. HOW DO I KNOW WHAT TO GET?? IT HAS AN EXTERNAL BALLAST RESISTOR. A FRIEND SAID GET ONE WITH AN INTERNAL RESISTOR."

I think your OEM coil is a 41080...maybe one of the members with a parts listing can verify this.

You can get either version...just remove the external resistor if you go for the coil with it inside. I'd also consider the upgrade to the electronic point replacement kit - one of those really maintenance free items."
