"My 2000 honda 50 runs fine when there's no waves. As soon as I hit a wave and boat impacts the water, it seems like 2 cylinders are shutting down and acceleration is drastically reduced. Boat slows to 5kts at full throttle. If I turn the boat on and off again, the problem remains. If I dock the boat for a few days, the engine runs normal again until I impact with another wave. I had a mechanic look at it with no success. Any sugestions?"

"Don't know anything about the Honda 50. But what you described sounds like a loose or shorting wire on the primary ignition. First, pull the plugs and inspect, especially to make sure that water is not being injested into the cylinders. If that's clear, then start working backwards - coils, and wires."
