Nissan 8 HP 4 Stroke Stalling when Throttling

I have a Nissan 8HP 4 Stroke outboard that I bought last year. Put 20 hours on it last year and it ran flawlessly. Fogged and stored motor for winter. Ran perfect this year (about 5 Hrs) until this weekend. It ran fine out to destination. When leaving it started right up and we were underway when suddenly died. It would start under choke then just die when throttling it from idle. Left vent open on gas tank during heavy rainy week thinking it may be moisture in gas causing problem. So replaced gas with fresh gas and still same problem. THe engine when idling will cycle up then almost stall then cycle up again. Is it a dirty carb?

Does it need a rebuild or can

Does it need a rebuild or can I just spray it with a carb cleaner?

Take it apart, soak it in carb cleaner(not the mechanic in a can stuff), put it back together.

You won't need any parts, but it's the same labor as if you were rebuilding it. The cleaner in cans is too mild to dissolve the deposits that are obstructing the jets. Think of spray cleaner as the once a month preventive measure rather than a cure."
