Have always had a problem with

Have always had a problem with the motor idling too low and quitting at the most inopportune moment. Can someone tell me what RPM I should adjust it to? Any recommendations on how to adjust the idle?
 
I have mine set at 1000 rpm&#3

I have mine set at 1000 rpm's
anything less and motor wants to stall when shifting
into gear.
