Oil is not milky and does not

Oil is not milky and does not smell of gasoline; oil and filter changed one year ago with normal oil level after fill.
Is it safe to run?
Is there a better way to check for gas leak into oil than smell?
Is this a dealer only type of problem?

try checking out your thermost

try checking out your thermostat. My 2002 F115 started mysteriously making oil and as soon as i replaced the thermostat it stopped (recommended by my mechanic after i told him the problem). it's not that uncommon apparently with that motor.
