How do you remove the lower un

How do you remove the lower unit? The shifter shaft is still connected. Where does it come apart?

You need to get a manual befor

You need to get a manual before you go any further. The coupler is on the shift rod and since that was unknown to you I fear that you have never done anything with a lower unit before.

I'm just parting out the outboard removing the lower unit is all I need help on.
I've removed the lower units on my other outboards several times. I came by this outboard in a trade.
It has a cracked cylinder and would need a powerhead.

Just knock out the spring pin in the coupler with a punch."
 
Put the gear shift all the way

Put the gear shift all the way forward. That will raise the couple up so you can see it. Just punch out the spring pin and drop the unit.
