"I had the tube that goes from the heat exchanger to the thermostat housing come off. I replaced all the rubber rings about 4 years ago. I removed thermostat housing, replaced rubber seals adn re-installed tube. Engine ran up to temp without any problem. I'm spooked. Will it come off again? If so when......"
 
I had one pop out of the back

I had one pop out of the back end recently. Most inconvenient. I think it is best to give them a couple of taps every 6 months or so.
I found I could do about 1500 rpm slightly in the red without raw water coming into the heat exchanger.
