"Looking at my BF8A, with the tiller to the left, between the GEAR Oil Level Plug, and GEAR Oil Drain Plug, there's two holes (vent holes?), one on the left and one on the right. The left one is DRIPPING what I think is Gear Oil. The Xtra-Long Shaft is on a kicker, and almost always up, that is tilted. It seems to drip out even when not running. It's leaving a "Sheen"--quite embarassing. Can Anybody Help me out?"

"Really sounds like your lower crank seal. How is the oil level over a period of time, or just sitting on the trailer??

Gear oil is almost always carmel colored, and engine oil is usually black after a short running. You might change the lower oil and see if that helps. Use marine grade lower unit oil as the other likes to foam, and could cause it to blow the top seal of the gear box."
