Suzuki 4hp stalls when in forward gear

"Can anyone help me please, my Suzuki 4hp starts ok, works in reverse but stalls when put into forward. I have no idea where to start with this and would be very gratefull for any advice.

My DT4 started OK, in neutral was fine when opened throttle. In fwd and rev stalled. Replaced carburettor now works fine. Try cleaning the carb?
