"Hello lads,
I need your need help again. I have a 140hp 4cyl, 3l 1979 old iron duke. Yesterday it began choking, spitting, backfiring, and studdering at low rpms. To get home I feathered it through the low rpms and it ran, sort of ok at higher rpms. Once home I checked it out by pulling plug wires, to find that cyl one and cyl four weren't working. Today I changed the wires, distributor cap, plugs, oil, oil filter, rotor, condenser, (not points, none anywhere locally), and tried again to find that, still one and four don't fire.
What next? Can anybody point me in the correct direction. The local marinas tell me it will be two weeks before they can even look at it? Go figure?
Any help will be appreciated.
Tom"

clean the points with some eme

clean the points with some emery paper carefully to not change the angle of the heads. Then adjust the points to .018 if not already. What did you gap the plugs to ?
