"Hello all,

I have two questions. First can you tell the difference between a 305 and a 350 OMC.

Second, I have a 1970 23' uniflite sportfisher, it has either the 305 or 350 OMC(GM) in it with an electric shift. Does anyone know what the original prop size might have been. I currently has a 14 x 11 prop.

Ok, one more quick one. Does anyone in Southern Cal know a good,fair mechanic. I need to have an upper resealed as it has water in the oil.

My 20 foot 66 Corsair had a 14.25 X 16 pitch originally. I re-pitched to 14.25 X 18,(for $85 Canadian) and think it works much better.
I imagine your boat is heavier than mine (2750lbs).
I'd try a 14.25 X 16 pitch, and see what it does. It will never be a speed boat, if that's what your after...."

"Thanks Scott. No, not looking for a speed boat, just the most efficient prop for the boat. I believe it weighs about 4500 lbs. It's built like a brick S@#t house, so I need something that is going to push it well, more cruising than speed."
