"Hello

May 1st I asked for help with my 318 which had water pouring out of the bell housing.

It was a popped freeze plug. I was successful in taking the flywheel off and putting in a new plug.

I do however have a new problem. When I went to lift the xsmn I pushed the drive shaft back and out of the way. I had seen this done before. Now when I bring the drive shaft flange up to the xsmn flange. it leaks, there is constant stream of water coming out. It stops when I push the drive shaft back by about 3/4" it stops.

Is it possible to insert a spacer (nut)to accomodate the difference.

Also the xsmn now spins contantly. Have I not aligned the xsmn properly. When I went to reinstall the xsmn it slipped right in.

Any help be greatly apprecicated"

"stuart..have you tried tighte

"stuart..have you tried tightening the stuffing box, might need a half turn to snug it up, when you pushed the shaft back you disturbed the packing."

You Canadians lol. smiles Loo

You Canadians lol. smiles Loosen the Jam nut first. Tighten just enough to were you get just one or to drops a min. Most replacement seals are nylon. If you need it. very easy to install.
