Hard starting mag 350 mpi

"Looking for possibilities. 2003 Merc 350 MAG horizon MPI. Commissioned in 2006, just hit 400 hours. Bravo III o/d.

Started having hard starts last fall. Batteries were old and weak, so thought that might be the problem. Dealt with it until I fired it up this spring, when I put new batteries in. Still does it some.

I have to put it in neutral and give it throttle to get it to start - with the throttle at idle, it 'll crank and crank and might eventually start.

Once running, it runs perfect at all throttle settings from idle through WOT.

Filters are all new.

When you first turn the key to

When you first turn the key to ON do you hear the fuel pump run? You may need a FP relay or the wiring to the pump is corroded. Follow the wires until it gets to a spade connector. There have been some corrosion issues w/it.
