"Hey everyone! Hopefully someone can help me!
I have a DT85 Suzuki Outboard motor. It is a 1988 and it is 85HP.

Today was the maiden voyage with it on my boat and it ran great for about 20minutes today on the lake. It idles fine but when put into gear it stalls when throttling too much. there was no spark on one of the cylinders when we checked after the stalling issue and all three spark plugs were fouled with oil. this problem only arises when the boat is in water. It runs perfect with the ears on in the yard.

The motor starts right up with no problem at all, only issue is the stalling when trying to drive a little faster than slugging around.

I replaced the plugs in the yard after our day out today and I have spark in all three cylinders now... (maybe because its cooled down? but it wasn't even that hot on the lake)
personally I don't think the problem is the plugs... maybe a coil got a little hot and has a built in shutdown? I'm stumped and want to avoid spending hundreds at the mechanic especially over something that seems like something simple.

Compression is fine at 125 to 130 across all three cylinders.

If you have any ideas please let me know!!"
