Gearbox has gone bang beyond repair on an '84 DT40, does anyone have any idea which gearboxes from models/years might fit?

You can check Browns Point Mar

You can check Browns Point Marine web site. Look at the micorfiche for your 40 then other models to see if the lower unit part number and other part numbers match.
