I was woundering if any one new what a small block chevy mid 80's should have for oil pressure at idle speed. my gauge comes up at higher rpm. it was close to the red line but i replaced the sending unit and now it is at the first line at idle. I don't no if i should worry or not.

"close to 60psi for a tight new engine, 40psi is typical I think until they get very worn, then about 10-20 at a warm idle, any lower its time to change some parts.

I read some Smokey Yunik stuff many years back (wrong spelling) that said 10psi per 1000 rpms"
