"I was cruising along with no problems and it started to sputter and died. I had plenty of gas; plugs were new; ignition was working; everything was fine all day long. I started it back up, it ran for about 5-8 seconds, and died. I can start it and run it for only 5-8 seconds. I know there could be a lot of things wrong but help me with your sage advice. Thanks!"

"Sounds like your fuel vent is plugged. Get a spray bottle of mixed gas (not starting fluid) and just as it starts to die, give it a shot. This will separate the fuel system from the ignition. Get back to us."

"Thanks! I never would have thought of that. It is too simple. I was going to tear into the reeds, fuel pump, carbs and exhaust. I will not be able to get to it until the weekend but I will let you know."
