"How much more performance can

"How much more performance can I expect if I were to change my prop that came with my 9.8 to the one that Tohatsu indicates to be used for a heavier load? My sailboat displaces 3,000 lbs.
Also, what about installing the Power thruster. What can I expect if I do this only?

"In theory, that engine comes

"In theory, that engine comes with an 8 pitch. If you want to try something lower a 6 pitch would raise your RPM up around 400 and give you a little more power. Just keep in mind that once your boat hits hull speed you have reached the end of what you can do."

"Always a possibility....Hence

"Always a possibility....Hence the trial and error approach. However, there is a built in rev limiter on the engine that would normally prevent that from happening. Think in terms of baby steps on propeller changes rather than perfection by a wild guess."
