"Hi everyone. 1971 Fairliner w twin 440s. Looking to rebuild one of the engines. Does anyone know which cylinder head castings were most popular with the m440s of this era? What did Chrysl. fit them with? One of mine has 516s (closed chamber), the other has 452s (open chamb). Also seen 346s and some others. Thanks! RS"

All I know is htat the peanut plugs heads made for RVs were the best for marine engines as well. Not sure about the casting numbers.

Why not go with a rebuilt long block? Some pretty good deals out there for Chryslers--actually cheaper than Chevies.
