have a 2005 suzuki 140 run fin

have a 2005 suzuki 140 run fine at 3000 rpms once you go over 4000 it overheats in seconds any ideas

"It could be the thermostat not opening enough/bad or the impeller could be old and needs to be changed. Also don't overlook a clogged water inlet or possibly corroded water cooling passages if the engine has not been flushed after every salt water use, if that applies. I have my own problems with overheating but I won't highjack your thread."
