"We just bought a pontoon boat with a 75 hp Chrysler for and engine. Are these good engines, and are there things we should look for before starting it. It is around a 1984 vintage.

"Chrysler has been out of the

"Chrysler has been out of the boat business for some time. Their engines had a few issues, but so do all of them. The two piece lower unit didn't like to be pre-loaded in any one direction as it would eat out the shift yoke in the lower.

Now these engines are cheap and you should consider advertising for a parts engine if you intend to keep it.

Chrysler kept bumping their timing setting down as fuel got lower in octane. So your decal will probably be wrong. Last one I timed at 26 degrees WOT."
