"I have a 12 horse Nissan kicker that appears to run great. I am just worried about one thing. As it idles, it kicks, or jumps to the right (when looking from back, by the pull start toward the prop side) at a regular interval. It is similar to the kick it produces when its bumped into gear. I thought maybe the prop shaft splines were catching, but in a tub, I can see that the propeller doesn’t jump when this happens. Now, I’m thinking it may be a timing issue. It won’t stall out when idling just a bit above idle speed, but when at idle, it will run for a minute or two, and stall during one of the kicks. Does anyone have any suggestions?"
